A whole new meaning to "Cycling the Lakes"

Going around and around the lakes all summer long can get old.   I propose we consider infusing new life into our recreational activities by considering the newest extreme sport:  scuba-cycling.
  • Minimal traffic
  • Near weightlessness
  • Clip on flippers are conveniently available in  "one-size-fits-all".
  • Temperature range is limited to a narrow band of only a few degrees.
  • When you get a flat tire, it is easy to pinpoint the exact location of the leak.

winter bicycle back out for almost summer...

hope everyone had a great father's day...any time you can ride with've had a great day, imho!

the english countryside is wonderful and i loved riding their single track roads...but i have to say...i sure enjoyed putting the some miles on the speedvagen again. is there anything sweeter than a jet lagged lake lap!?!

Great fun/diamond jubilee challenge!

Got up this morning to fairly dry skies but could tell the rain was coming! I biked down to the city center and scrounged around for a county road map of the cotswolds that included both oxford and stratford upon small task! I then highlighted a decent route with a mix of highway and backroads deciding to give it a go! Kari wrote down a meeting place and time on the top of my map and i headed out to make my appointment! The timing for the girls who took the train an hour and a half after i left the flat was perfect. We met within minutes of arrival and hunting around for the out of the way place we had randomly chosen to meet. Hopefully kari will post a shot of my diamond jubilee celebration tea! It was perfect! Here is a shot of our return trip home together...perfect day, aye??

Fortunately for me...and the terraplane

The most phenomenal shop in the UK is essentially next door to our flat! My new friends made short work of the calamity and had an open pro rim laced and true with some pretty sweet dt swiss spokes in under an hour! Most fun i have had getting out of a pickle--in i would say--EVER! They didnt even mind the eclectic spare parts bin box build, either. --even noticed the sweet winter stem-- those guys know bikes!

Unfortunately for me

The truing became a little more complicated...snip snip snip...and the velocity hub is separated from the nimble spider rim. Probably only myself to blame for the wheel damage. I am just thankful it didnt collapse on me while riding.

Before america stretched out from sea to shining sea

This saddle leather was stretched out on its rails...or so i am told!
