Not sure what's to blame

The espresso, the bike, the lake and the snow combined for the perfect winter, around-on the lake lap!

Ok I'm desperate...

If you stop by I'll break out the good stuff!

Pre-ride fuel

I know it's not sunshine rolls...but it's ready for you if you can roll by...and I'll join you for a spin from here to where ever you like!

Just when I thought I was sick of winter

The ride home brought me back to life! You are not dead until you are warm and dead is what I say in the ED... You're not dead in the dead of winter as long as you can ride is what I say as I leave the Emergency Department!

Here are the goods

I know, I know...there's redundancy--but that means I can give stuff away if someone needs something on the road, right?? Anyone like my secret 'cranky jeff' weapon?!?

Slow day at the office

So I thought I would check a BMI on the pugsley...body mass index...interesting that with and without the tool bag the weight of the bike is exactly the same. So, to answer your question...what difference does it make how much the tool bag weighs? Absolutely none!

From unprepared

To repair kit weight = blank pounds--let's hear your guess!

Thanks to jane and orbea rider

I broke my master link and was stranded until help came! Bikes are more fun to ride than walk that much is certain! just be careful where you stand to fix your chain out there...lamp post sized ice droppings could be very hazardous...

Not sure there's any ruining the trail

But laying track on the pristine snow is a pretty good time at the's a little sketchy and there are some branches be as careful as you need to be! just don't be in a hurry and you'll have a great time. remember, winter riding isn't about going's just about going...

Anyone recognize the trail marker?

It's pretty slick out here! Not sure the trip is doctor recommended!

i'll give you a hint...from eye level to twelve feel off the ground...the pinkness of the marker is so low and hard to see you might just trip or ride over it!

Tricky but successful

Outside outback loop/climb isn't easy for me during the summer...not too tough today!

Guess what?

If the snow looks soft and probably is!

the first stretch of 'b' route/no winter maintenance road going north of jemmerson maintained at all...if you like a challenge...this is your route!

Better than a lake lap?

Well probably not but the scenery is awesome!

This is perfect snow

Quite possibly the most fun I've ever had on the bike! great to be back in the saddle, enjoying the best winter ride of the season! if you want to stop by and take the pug for a spin and see for yourself, feel free!

Ok I admit it

It's too icy to ride today! on my way back home to screw studs into the big larry tires...or not...

A picture of you...

quite a crew, by the slew without llew, gue or chain lube...

The Chat

I wish I were the yellow chat down in the thickets

who sings all night, throwing into the air praises

and panhandles, plaints, in curly phrases, half-rhymes,

free verse too, with head-dipping and wing-wringing, with soft breast

rising into the air--meek and sleek, broadcasting, with no time out

for pillow-rest, everything--pathos, thanks--

oh, Lord, what a lesson you send me as I stand

listening to your rattling, swamp-loving chat singing of his simple, leafy life--

how I would like to sing to you all night in the dark just like that.

Short windy but sweet

Nice to get both buzz and woody out on rockerville road for a spin...

...but the force of the wind got me thinking about the previous discussion about overestimating grade. this wind gust registered greater than 60 mph with the spidey-o-meter!

If you're lookin' for a place to stay

With a tandem...look no further!

Forget about Robins!

The surest sign of Spring is bikes in the entryway!

Road Season Begins!

Even if the ice fisherman in the background didn't get the message.

Do you know what I mean...

...When I say... I love my bike!?!

when my sister said needles hiway is closed for the winter: I just had to see for myself

after spending the morning with mom...she reminded me the weather tomorrow out here is supposed to change. snow is in the forecast and riding in the hills may be treacherous after today. she whispered to me...go out and ride as far as you can today! i did. i was instructed to turn around at the base of needles highway. nice to be back in custer state park again!

Great day on the bike!

Out in 3 hours
An hour lunch
And a coast home in two!
Now to clean up
And visit mom.

Leading the way

On the descent back to momma webb's in the hills!

Sometimes the riding IS

About the destination...sometimes it's about the flow of the day: being fully human and fully alive!

After the 5 mile descent to hiway 385

Hill City 4 miles! They fixed the road since last time I was here! Alpine Inn here we come. Hope they don't close before 2pm mountain...

The mount rushmore pigtail bridge

Nice climbing kari--EPIC!

today's assignment: climb to the alpine inn

hope we packed the climbing legs...if not, it could be a short trip.

62 sunny degrees for our winter ride today

new life

To come out of bondage

To be set free at last

Come to the water"s edge

Release the broken past.

Every withering hand

Every plague in my youth

Every scourge of the land

Even poverty's tooth

Is uprooted by G-d

And turned over like sod.

When all seems hopeless...

Hope is priceless! helps...knowing where to look...

want to play the acrosstic poem game?? i wrote my mom this poem about ten years ago...there is a secret word that is found when the letters are strung together in a block format...can you guess the secret word...and for bonus points the name of the poem??

He loved us

made us Him available

for anyone whose eager desire

is to please

as a humbled vessel

poured on earth...
